As Sheriff of Cuyahoga County, I would like to welcome you to our website. This website will provide you with an overview of the various services and functions the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department performs, while also providing the resources and tools you are looking for.

The CCSD employs approximately1100 people, and the men and women of our various divisions – law enforcement, corrections, civil, and administrative – strive to uphold the great honor of serving the citizens of this county. Ohio law mandates that the CCSD provides for law enforcement, court security, service of papers, jail operations, extradition process, and the transportation of prisoners. The CCSD also maintains full police jurisdiction in all of the municipalities, villages, and townships within Cuyahoga County.

It is with tremendous pride that I serve as your Sheriff, and I sincerely hope that you view our department as your partner in maintaining the welfare of our community. As the Chief Law Enforcement Officer in Cuyahoga County, it is my duty and commitment to responsibly and diligently serve the citizens of this county.

As agents of the community, we strive to provide appropriate custodial care along with programs that support the physical, spiritual and constitutional needs of individuals committed to our custody. Further, every effort will be made to assist the inmates in our custody to understand and take responsibility for their involvement in the justice system."

Animal Abuse Registry

The Cuyahoga County Animal Abuse Registry is established pursuant to Chapter 1401 of the Cuyahoga County Code as a public service tool for organizations and individuals offering pets for adoption. Individuals listed on this registry have been convicted of felony animal abuse, and are prohibited from adopting, purchasing, harboring, or acting as a custodian or caretaker of a companion animal within Cuyahoga County. Violators will be subject to a $500.00 civil fine for each violation.

Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department's 5th Annual Operation Safe Halloween is October 26th!

Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department partners with area law enforcement agencies to present the 5th Annual Operation Safe Halloween, Friday, October 26th. More than thirty local, state and federal partners will be handing out candy from their decorated cruisers, rain or shine. Kids should come in costume and bring trick-or-treat bags.

Lakeside Road between Ontario and West Third will be closed to traffic from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. so kids can trick-or-treat, meet law enforcement, enjoy the K9 unit, hear bagpipes, and play games. Free parking is available across the street at the Huntington Garage (enter from West 3rd Street).
