Explorers Post 701
Explorer
Post 701 is a group of young men and women in high school and college
(ages 14 to adult) interested in the field of law enforcement. Areas of
interest include, Sheriff, Deputy Sheriff, Corrections Officer,
Scientific Investigator and Dispatcher.
The
program is administered by off-duty Sheriff's Office personnel. The
program is sanctioned, insured, and follows the guidelines and rules set
forth by the Boy Scouts of America Exploring Division.
Classes include but are not limited to:
- K-9 Handling
- Special Weapons & Tactics Training
- Fingerprinting
- Handcuffing Techniques
- Report Writing
- Court Procedures
- Sex Crime Investigation
- Patrol & Traffic Techniques
- Homicide Investigation
- FIRST AID and CPR*
*It should be noted that all classes are shortened versions
of actual academy classes and are not accredited with the exception of
FIRST AID and CPR.
Meeting Times
Every Thursday night 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.
How to Join
The
Sheriff's Office conducts an annual recruitment program which concludes
September 30th of each year. An OPEN HOUSE is scheduled in October
where enrollment and interviews are conducted. A student must sign up by
November 15th, of each year as academy classes begin.
